There is a way a person can be transported to another place through viewing a painting, sculpture or film.  Yet to incorporate all these elements together in creating an environment or space enhances its effectiveness.  I had the honor of spending some time in Delhi, India where I helped to care for patients in a particular T.B. Hospital.  It is a place of suffering yet in that it is one of the most beautiful and magical experiences to walk through one of the many wards and gaze into the beautiful faces.  Death is close at hand in some of those eyes and there is no way to escape that reality.  The conditions in the hospital were filthy- mattresses rotting, cats and rats running freely, floors, dressers and sheets stained through the years of patients lying in the beds day after day.  Yet amongst the decay are these jewels of people.  It’s a place where reverence is in the air, something almost holy about being where suffering is so evident.  I would like to transport people into this space, where beauty and suffering are intensified together.

I am looking for a space to realize this project, please contact me if you have any information regarding: sallygrayson@gmail.com
